SGT days haven’t been easy since Rd.3, too much handy weight and of course the small restrictor. And to make things worse, the GT-R aren’t looking that strong for this long race; the GT Association even decides to do something with the regulations! Luckily Benoit’s car goes from the 80kg handy to 60kg but of course he still carry plus 55kg gained at the previous races. So for this Suzuka 1000Km race the XANAVI NISMO GT-R bear 1200kg in weight and a restrictor with a 15kg reduction. Well but not to worry, with luck he may even be able to gain rank points this time.  

Friday, the skies are clear, the track is dry and the results are promising for the, presently on diet, XANAVI NISMO GT-R. Today is the day to test tires and drive plenty since the race shall be long (1000km) and the conditions variant. Benoit does the 9^th best time, but is still not totally accepting of the race setting.

Qualifying Saturday: Rain. Although it had been raining hard, the morning qualifying begun with no delays. Benoit gets on the wheel of the XANAVI NISMO GT-R on rain tires. Good result in the heavy rain, however once the track starts to dry up, most drivers change to semidry and the lap times begin to shorten. Benoit too changes to intermediate tires, however to hard compounds, which do not warm up fast enough and are not facilitating his lap times. And so he goes – straight unto the sandbanks of the first corner.   

Although Benoit tries and pushes hard throughout the session, so do the others and he ends up in 8^th position. Not bad considering there had been no points gained for the last 4 races (Ha!). He is one of the Super Lap gang! And so we all thought, however the rain falls harder and all the afternoon sessions have to be canceled due to the amazingly heavy rains.

The top machine in the morning qualifying has to change engines and according to the regulations goes 10 positions down leaving Benoit in 7^th grid for the Sunday race.

Sunday, the weather is good and not even as hot as it usually is for the 1000km at Suzuka, a blessing! 

The race begins; Benoit makes his first overtake into 6^th position. Then the car in 3^rd is faced with engine troubles Benoit steps up to 5^th. Eventually the 6-stint strategy cars start to pit in and out overtaking Benoit into 6^th position once again. The battle for 4^th position causes one retirement and Benoit is once again in 5^th, 25 laps now gone. The 3^rd position pits in, the 6-stinters pit in and Benoit finds himself temporarily in 2^nd position. He pits on the 35^th lap and gives it to Satoshi who keeps a stable pace until the 70^th lap. Benoit comes back on the wheel, and the fierce battle for 5^th position begins!

The battle rival: good friend Andre Lotterer. Benoit is fast in the corners Andre faster in the straights, and so it goes: overtake – overtaken tango for the next 35 laps. The TV crew kept it all on camera! They actually seem to be having a swell time! At the pits, once again Benoit passes the wheel to Satoshi who takes the advantage from the other pit stoppers and steps into 3^rd position. Its now lap 140 and Benoit is one last time in charge of the wheel.       

But he just cant contain the sleep mood he is in, its getting dark outside the rhythm is somewhat monotonous, just the perfect lullaby for a late afternoon nap, he is so distracted that when he suddenly snaps out of it and finds himself behind the top car, Benoit believes he is more then a genius, now is second position. Oh but unfortunately and due to his quick good sense he soon realizes he is just comfortably driving a-one whole lap behind! Benoit finishes the race in 8^th position. Happy to have gained points after a while! The summer bonus (?) Now he will have to drive back to Tokyo with the family, he must keep concentration.

But of course, wife Melanie offers to drive back and while the two princes (father and son Jules) are in their 7^th dream, Melanie arrives safely and fast to their sweet home. Benoit is amazed and seriously considering giving her the wheel at the next SUPER GT race.(hahahha)

Depuis la 3^ème manche du Championnat de Super GT, les NISSAN SKYLINE GT-R n’étaient pas vraiment à la fête car bien trop pénalisées par le poids que le règlement leur demandait d’ajouter. Enfin, le week-end dernier pour les 1000 Kms de SUZUKA, elles fêtaient leur grand retour dans la course au podium. 

Dés les essais libres du vendredi, les sourires étaient de retour dans les équipes du fabricant nippon. Benoît se concentrait sur les réglages de la course plutôt que sur la qualification : la course étant très longue dimanche. A la nuit tombée, les machines bouclaient leurs derniers tours (et testaient par la même occasion les voitures en nuit ; la course se terminant bien après le couché du soleil) et la NISSAN N°23 pointait dans le top 8.

Le lendemain sur une piste mouillée, lors de la séance qualificative du matin,l’équipe décidait de ne passer qu’1 seul des 2 trains de pneus tendres afin d’en conserver un pour le Super Tour d’après le déjeuner au cas où les conditions seraient similaires. Malheureusement pour les très nombreux spectateurs positionnés autour du circuit, toutes les séances de l’après-midi devaient être annulées en raison de pluies diluviennes (bottes en caoutchouc obligatoires sous peine de rhume des pieds !). L’équipage franco japonais partira donc en 7^ème place le lendemain.

Dimanche, comme chaque année, le circuit était quasiment complet dés le lever du soleil. A 13H, Benoît s’élançait au cœur de la horde d’enragés…et passait rapidement son prédécesseur. Il pointait donc en 6^ème position, puis allait remonter encore dans le classement et lorsqu’il passait le volant pour la 1^ère fois à son coéquipier S. MOTOYAMA au 35^ème tour, la N°23 était vraiment dans le coup ! Le japonais effectuait un très bon relais et donnait à son tour sa place à Benoît. Il ressortait aux cotés de son grand ami A. LOTTERER et un spectacle magnifique allait commencer : les caméras ne se détachaient que très rarement du duel franco allemand qui était digne des meilleurs chassés croisés des GP motos ! Le sourire immense sous son casque, Benoît rentrait en même temps que le pilote TOYOTA (visiblement sous la même stratégie d’arrêts aux stands), et donnait de nouveau le volant à son coéquipier.Grâce au formidable travail de l’équipe technique, le japonais ressortait devant la N°36 et pointait alors en 3^ème place (peut-être un podium au moment du bouquet final pour la 23 ?). Malheureusement, dans le dernier relais, la NISSAN perdait de son avance et allait rétrograder en 8^ème place …ce qui allait quand même permettre à nos 2 compères d’engranger de précieux points pour le championnat dont ils sont actuellement les honorables 2^nd.

I was thinking about it since I created the blog at the begining of the year.

Today we tried a new place for lunch with Melanie and Jules, it was good so I decided to creat it today.

The today’s place is call “Bistro le petit salé” and we eat a “Gigeot d’agneau” which I didn’t test for a while, I forgot how it was good.

I recommend this place, it’s very good and cheap in a french atmosphere even if the waiter doesn’t speak french.

　第３戦以降、ウェイトが重い＆リストリクターが小さくて、どうなもならなかったブノワのＳＧＴ。しかし、今回からはＧＴ－Ｒ勢が余りにも夏バテ気味(？)ということで、若干ＧＴＡが条件を緩めてくれることになった。第２戦を終え、80㎏となった特別性能調整分のウェイトが今回から60㎏まで減量になったのだ。それにプラスして、レース結果でのウェイトがまだ55㎏分残っているため、第６戦・鈴鹿1000㎞でブノワが乗るXANAVI NISMO GT-Rは、1200㎏でリストリクターも15㎏分小さい仕様。でも、今までのことを考えれば、何とかポイント争いはできそうな状況となった。

ちょっぴりダイエットしたXANAVI NISMO GT-Rにとって、最初の走行となる金曜日のセッションは晴れ。幸いにもドライでの走行となる。今回の鈴鹿は1000㎞レース。スタート時とゴール時では全くコンディションが違う分、金曜日に色々なタイヤの比較テストをしておかなければならないので、助かった。この日のポジションは総合９番手。トップ10圏内は久々という感じ。でも、まだセットアップには満足行っていない状況だった。

迎えた予選日は、雨。それも朝から激しく降ったり、弱まったりという状態が何度も繰り返された。そんな中、午前中の予選１回目は、何とか無事にスタートする。セッション開始早々はまだ雨脚が強かったが、段々と止んで行くコンディションの中、XANAVI NISMO GT-Rは、まずブノワがレインタイヤでコースイン。ヘビーレインでは、かなりの好位置につけた。そこから路面の水が減り始め、各車インターミディエイトタイヤに交換。するとタイムが大きく上がり始める。ブノワももちろんインターを装着。さらなるタイムアップを狙った。が、ブノワが履いたのは同じインターでもハードコンパウンド。このタイヤでは、全然フロントタイヤが温まらず、１コーナーでお砂遊びをしてしまう。その後も、プッシュし続けたが、なかなか大幅なタイムアップはならず。でも、何とか予選１回目を８番手で終え、４戦ぶりにスーパーラップ進出を果たした。と思ったのだが、午後になると天候は悪化。外を歩けないほど雨足が強くなってしまう。ということで、セッションは中止。雨だからスーパーラップでポジションを上げられるかな～と思っていたが、結局８番手のまま。予選でトップタイムを出していたマシンは、エンジン交換により10グリッド降格ということで、７番手からレースをスタートすることになった。

雨雲もすっかり水を落とし切ったのか、決勝日は、再び天候が回復。例年ほどの暑さではないが、太陽も顔を出した。決勝がスタートすると、ブノワはまず１台をかわして６番手に浮上。そのポジションを守って周回を重ねる。そうこうするうちに、３位を走っていたマシンがトラブルでピットイン。ブノワは自動的に５番手にポジションアップ。だが、後方から６スティント作戦でグイグイ飛ばしてきたマシンにオーバーテイクされ、再び６番手に。と思ったら、その後すぐに４番手争いをしていた２台のマシンが接触して１台が遅れ、またまた５番手となった。さらにスタートから25周というところでは、３番手を走っていたマシンが、ピットイン。その後、６スティント組がピットに入り、一時は２番手まで浮上した。そして、35周を終えたところでブノワもピットイン。サトシにバトンタッチする。コースに入ったサトシは、安定したペースで周回しながら、６～７番手のポジションをキープ。やはり６スティント組や変則５スティント組が２回目のピットに入ると、２番手まで浮上する。そして、スケジュール通り、70周を終えたところで、再びブノワと交代した。この真ん中のスティントでは、ブノワは激しい５番手争いを展開する。前を行くのは親友のアンドレ・ロッテラー。２人は時に接触ギリギリのバトルを見せて、ＴＶに映りまくった。アンドレのクルマはストレートが速く、ブノワのクルマはコーナーが速いため、なかなか決着はつかない。ブノワがオーバーテイクすれば、アンドレもやり返すという戦いになった。でも、とにかくお互いに楽しくて、夢中になってバトルをしているうちに、アッと言う間に35周が終了。再びブノワはピットに戻り、サトシに交代した。このスティントでも、サトシは６番手からジワジワ浮上。他のマシンのピットのタイミングやトラブルもあり、３番手までポジションを上げて戻ってくる。そして、140周を終えると、最後はブノワがマシンに乗り込んだ。が、この時、ブノワはかなりの“おねむ”モード。真ん中のスティントでのアンドレとのバトルで、心地よ～く疲労しているうえ、あたりも暗くなってきて、運転しているうちに眠気が襲ってきた。あくびも止まらない。しかも、今回の鈴鹿には、東京からクルマでやってきていた。ということは、帰りも夜中まで運転しなければならないなんて…。｢ああ、眠いな～｣。と、ブノワは知らぬ間にウトウトしていたのであった。オイオイ(笑)。そこに、“まだレース中だぞ～！”と、天の声が聞こえたかどうかは定かではないが、ふと気づいた時には、残り数周。この時、目の前にはトップのクルマが…。“ひょっとして、寝ている間にポジションを上げちゃった？　オレって、もしかして天才(笑)？”と思ったら、周回遅れになっていた(汗)。そして、最終的な順位は８位。何とか４戦ぶりのポイントを獲得できたのは良かった。でも、ゴールしてからもブノワはまだ寝たりず、あくび全開。これでは愛息・ジュールを無事に連れて帰れない…と、すご～く心配になったメラニーが、ブノワの代わりに運転を申し出てくれた。この帰り道のメラニーのドライビングの鮮やかだったこと。ブノワが運転するよりも、うんと速いペースで東名阪、伊勢湾岸、東名と走り切る。その間、ブノワ＆ジュールの男性陣は当然のように爆睡。気づいた時には、すでに自宅のガレージに到着していたのであった。この速さなら、次からＳＧＴのレースはメラニーに出てもらった方がいいかも知れないな～(笑)。

It was a really good atmosphere and I had a good surprise to see so many people.

今回作ったＴシャツは限定版だっていうことと、品質がとてもいい物だから、最初にボクが予想していたよりは少し高い値段になってしまった…。でも、イベント当日、Ｔシャツを買ってくれた人には、ボクの友人・ドミニクの厚意で軽食とドリンクが提供されることになっているから、ちょっとはお買い得だと思うよ(笑)。このＴシャツにはユニセックス、レディース、子供用それぞれに、限定ナンバーを書き入れるスペースが作ってある。当日は、ボクがその場でナンバーとサインを入れることにしているんだ。だから、一番最初に並んでくれた人は、｢１番｣をゲットできるよ(もちろん最初の人が、１番じゃなくて他のナンバーを希望するなら、それもＯＫさ)。

It’s a little bit more expensive than what I was expected at the beginning of the project but the reason is it’s a limited edition and good quality.

Depuis la création de ce site, j’ai eu la grande joie de pouvoir me rendre compte que vous étiez nombreux à m’apporter votre soutient au fil de mes saisons. Ayant un certain nombre de jours libres dans mon emplois du temps (on ne sourit pas SVP !), j’ai réfléchi à ce que je pourrais faire pour nous faire partager un projet qui me tient à cœur depuis quelque temps : la création d’une ligne (modeste pour le moment !) de vêtements.

L’aventure est un peu compliquée pour moi ici car comme vous pouvez l’imaginer mon japonais est loin d’être parfait …et le monde de la confection ne fait pas vraiment partie de mon univers habituel (pour le moment c’est essence et huile plutôt que paillettes et formes de cols ;-)))). Mais heureusement pour moi j’ai de nouveau eu la chance de rencontrer des personnes motivées par le projet …et l’aventure commence ainsi !

La sortie officielle des 3 premiers modèles (Hommes, Femmes et Enfants) se ferra ce week-end dans le restaurant de mon ami Dominique Doucet à Suzuka où vous serrez toutes et tous les bienvenues. Pour ceux que le voyage rebuterait (je sais 12H d’avion pour voir ma production c’est beaucoup !) vous pourrez commander vos exemplaires numérotés et signés par moi sur ce site très bientôt. Pour toute réservation, n’hésitez pas à m’envoyer un mail… et que la nouvelle aventure commence….

日本にいる間、レースとテストの合間に、ボクには結構自由時間がある。だから、その間にブノワの“ｂ”マークがついたウェアを作ったよ。今年の初め、ボクにはいっぱい応援してくれる人たちがいるんだなってことがよく分かったから、そんなみんなのために、自分も時間とエネルギーを使おうって決めたんだ。でも、これを作り上げるまでは、ちょっと大変だった。ボクの日本語は完璧じゃないし(笑)、どうやってウェアを作ったらいいかっていう方法もよく知らなかったから。ただ、ボクの回りには、助けてくれる人たちがいて、彼らのおかげで完成させることができた。彼らには、本当に感謝しているよ。

　このＴシャツ、ロゴマーク以外は全部ボクが自分でデザインしたんだ。ロゴは、このウェブサイトをデザインしてくれた友人が作ってくれて、Ｔシャツはメーカーの人たちの協力で作ることができた。初めて作ったこのＴシャツは限定版で、100枚はユニセックス。あと、レディースが50枚と子供用が50枚ある。サイズはそれぞれ用意してあるけどね。そして、この最初のＴシャツには、ボク自身がエディションナンバーとサインを入れるつもりなんだ。今週末、そのためのちょっとしたイベントをやろうと思っている。白子駅近くでボクの友人、ドミニク・ドゥーセがカフェをやっているんだけど、その場所を借りて、土曜日の晩にサイン会をやるつもりだよ。(時間をはじめ詳細が決まったら、追ってウェブサイトに掲載するよ！)　そして、このイベントと最初のＴシャツが好評だったら、さらに新しいＴシャツやグッズを作る予定なんだ。来年か、それよりも前に作れればいなって思っているよ。

　ちなみにボクは自分のＴシャツを作るにあたって、余りレースのイメージが強くないデザインを考えている。しかも、良質な物を作りたいと思っているんだ。それは、サーキットにいる時だけじゃなくて、普段からみんなにボクのＴシャツを着てもらいたいから。ただ、今回作ったユニセックスのＴシャツに関しては、ボクの特徴を表すものになっている。ボクは自分を象徴するようなフラッグをモチーフにしたデザインを作りたかったから、日本の古い国旗(旭日旗)の形を使って、フランス国旗のトリコロールカラーをそこに乗せてみた。そして、真ん中にはボクのロゴマークが描いてあるんだ。レディースのＴシャツは、実際に色々なＴシャツを見たり、女性の友人たちに話を聞いてデザインを決めた。子供用は、写真を手に入れ次第、このウェブサイトで紹介するつもりなんだけど、みんなが気に入ってくれるといいな！

Because I have some free time in Japan between races and tests I created a new mark: B.wear.

I realised at the beginning of the year you are so many to support me so I decided to spend time and energy for all of you.

It was a bit complicated to realize that because as you know my Japanese is not perfect (hahaha…) and I didn’t know so much how to find a company who could make it. The big advantage I had is I know great people who help me, so thanks to all of them.

Anyway I designed all by myself except the logo (I got help from my website designer) and I got also help from the maker.

This first edition is limited, only 100 T-shirt unisex Type, 50 woman type and 50 child type but in different size.

For this first edition I will write the number of each T-shirt by myself and sign it. I will organise that event next Saturday night at my friend’s shop Dominique Doucet in Shiroko (more details at the end of the week).

If it’s a great success some other t-shirts and goods will come for next year or maybe before.

I did a design different from usual racing t-shirts and I choose a good quality because

I would like you have a t-shirt you can use not only on the circuit but also every days.

The Unisex T-shirt represent really something for me, I tried to make a flag that is representing me as much as possible, so the combination of the old Japanese flag and the colours of the French flag plus my logo in the centre.

The Woman type is just an idea I got after watching many actual T-shirt and talking with women friends.

I will show you the Child type as soon as possible when I will get the pictures.
